01:00 - 16 May 2025

Following a wedding ceremony in Bukan where guests wore traditional khaki-colored Kurdish clothing, security forces escalated their actions. After the arrest of the bride’s father in Bukan, two other Kurdish citizens — Ali Daneshi and Samrand Vojoudi, both from Mahabad — were also arrested, while dozens of others were threatened by phone to report themselves to the Intelligence Office. During a night raid on the homes of Kaveh and Loqman Salak, all their Kurdish garments, mobile phones, identification documents, and bank cards were confiscated.

In the early hours of Friday, May 8, 2025, Ali Daneshi and Samrand Vojoudi, both Kurdish residents of Mahabad, were arrested with violence and without a judicial warrant by security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

Simultaneously, during the same early morning raid on Friday, May 8, 2025, security forces forcibly entered the homes of Kaveh and Loqman Salak, also Kurdish citizens of Mahabad, and seized their traditional Kurdish clothing, mobile phones, and identity documents, again without presenting a court order.

In connection with this wedding event, dozens of Kurdish citizens in Bukan and Mahabad have reportedly been threatened by phone calls from intelligence authorities, ordering them to report to security institutions due to their attendance at the event wearing khaki Kurdish clothing.

On Saturday, April 3, 2025, Ebrahim Mardani, a Kurdish resident of Bukan, was arrested without a judicial warrant following the wedding of his child and taken to an undisclosed location. He was temporarily released on Sunday, April 4, 2025, after posting bail of 300 million tomans.

As of this report’s publication, the whereabouts and condition of the detained Kurdish citizens from Mahabad remain unknown.
