Shahramfar Detention Center: Over 3 Months of Arbitrary Detention for Amjad Salehzadeh and Renewal of His Detention Order for Another Month

On April 26, 2025, it was reported that a 38-year-old Kurdish citizen named Amjad Salehzadeh, son of Ahmad and a native of Saqqez, who was arrested by security forces on January 22, 2025, remains in arbitrary detention for over three months at Shahramfar Detention Center, affiliated with the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Sanandaj. His detention order has been renewed for another month.
According to a source who spoke to Kurdpa, despite the passage of over three months, Mr. Salehzadeh has been deprived of access to legal counsel and family visits during his detention.
The source stated that, under the instructions of security forces, Mr. Salehzadeh’s temporary detention order has been extended three times.
The source further added that Mr. Salehzadeh is under pressure and torture by security forces to extract forced confessions.
On Tuesday, January 22, 2025, security forces arrested Mr. Salehzadeh at his workplace without presenting a judicial warrant and subsequently raided and searched his private residence.
So far, no precise information has been obtained regarding the reasons for Mr. Salehzadeh’s arrest or the charges brought against him.
Background: Previous Arbitrary Detention and Sentencing of Amjad Salehzadeh
In April 2024, Amjad Salehzadeh was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Saqqez Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Javad Mostafaei, to three months of discretionary imprisonment on charges of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
However, applying the Law on the Reduction of Discretionary Sentences, his prison sentence was converted into a monetary fine of 160 million rials.
Later, by invoking Article 442, this fine was reduced to 120 million rials.
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, the penalty of 120 million rials was officially enforced by Branch 2 of the Enforcement of Criminal Judgments at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Saqqez.
Previously, on March 16, 2023, Mr. Salehzadeh had been summoned to the Saqqez Intelligence Office. After undergoing a day of interrogation, he was temporarily released upon posting bail pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
Furthermore, his preliminary interrogation session was held on February 22, 2024, at Branch 1 of the Saqqez Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, where he was formally charged with "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
