Confirmation of the death sentence of Reza Rasae, a Kurdish Yarsan citizen in the Supreme Court of the country
The death sentence of Reza Rasae, a Kurdish Yarsan citizen from Sahneh County in Kermanshah province, was confirmed by the Supreme Court of the country.
According to an informed source, the death sentence of this protester was confirmed by Judge "Barani" in the 17th branch of the Supreme Court of the country.
On November 3, Kheirallah Haqjouyan, a Kurdish Yarsan activist and former political prisoner, published a video emphasizing breaking the silence against the issuance of the death sentence against this political prisoner, criticized the judge's unjust verdict, and unfair trial against Mr. Rasae.
This member of the Consultative Assembly of Yarsan Civil Activists, referring to the issuance of a verdict without proving the crime against Reza Rasae in his case, said; arbitrary arrest, lack of access of Reza Rasae to a lawyer, lack of access to case file, engineering of public opinion, ambiguity of the cases and evidence, entry of false witnesses as defendants and incitement of them against each other and threat and forced confession are among the cases of unfair trial and lack of discovery of the truth.
Reza (Gholamreza) Rasae, 34, a Kurdish Yarsan citizen from Sahneh County in Kermanshah province, was arrested during the memorial ceremony of the 21st anniversary of Seyyed Khalil Alinejad, one of the Kurdish Yarsan leaders, and in connection with the protests of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi following the state murder of Jina-Mahsa Amini, was sentenced to death, payment of blood money, one year of correctional imprisonment and 74 lashes. This arrested protester was sentenced by Branch 2 of the Criminal Court of Kermanshah to charges of "direct involvement in premeditated murder" of Nader Beirami, the head of the Intelligence Organization of the Revolutionary Guards Corps of Sahneh County, "direct involvement in causing intentional non-fatal injuries not leading to death", "demonstration and show of force with a knife" and "disruption of public order by creating noise and controversy" to execution (retribution of life), payment of blood money, one year of correctional imprisonment and 74 lashes.
His last court session was on September 21, 2023, and his death sentence was notified in writing to his lawyers on October 7, 2023.
Reza Rasae denied all the charges brought against him during the court sessions and repeatedly stated that he was forced to make forced confessions against himself in the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Sahneh due to "torture and threat of rape".
Reza Rasae was arrested by the agents of the Intelligence Department in Shahriar, Tehran province, on November 24, 2022, and transferred to Sahneh County. He was tortured severely for a week in the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Sahneh to accept the charge of "participation in murder" of Nader Beirami.
He was transferred to Diesel Abad prison in Kermanshah after the end of the interrogation period and again after a few weeks, along with several other detainees during the anniversary of Seyyed Khalil Alinejad, from Diesel Abad prison in Kermanshah to the detention center of the Intelligence Department of this city. They were transferred for 21 days. On November 18, 2022, during the memorial ceremony of the 21st anniversary of Seyyed Khalil Alinejad, a famous artist and one of the leaders of the Kurdish Yarsan community in Sahneh County, which was attended by thousands of people joined the protests of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi in protest of the state murder of Jina-Mahsa Amini; it was violently attacked by the security-suppressive forces and tear gas and live bullets were fired by them. The Consultative Assembly of Yarsan Civil Activists reported in this regard; "In this violence, dozens of people were arrested and several others were killed and injured, including the head of the Intelligence Department of the Revolutionary Guards Corps of Sahneh County."
According to Kurdpa sources, in this case, six other citizens named "Farhad Big Gerosi, Seyed Rasoul Razavi, Seyed Masoum Razavi, Armin Haqi Monjeq, Pouria Monti Monjeq Tepe and Shajame Monti Monjeq Tepe" were charged with "disruption of public order" by controversy and noise. They were sentenced to one year of correctional imprisonment and 74 lashes.
Kurdpa sources announced that while the ceremony on November 18, 2022, continued peacefully and with chanting popular slogans and condemning the massacre and suppression of the people there are still many questions about the purpose of the security-suppressive forces from the violent attack on this ceremony, which is held every year; the issuance of the death sentence for Reza Rasae in an unfair court and without his access to a lawyer at the time of interrogation and arbitrary arrest, indicates the security cases against the people and the continuation of the suppression of the popular protests of Jen, Jiyan, Azadi.
