Sadeq Mahmoudnejad, an eye-injured protester, was sentenced to prison

Sadeq Mahmoudnejad, an eye-injured protester from Piranshahr, was sentenced to five years and six months in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad.

The Revolutionary Court of Mahabad accused this protester of "membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian regime" and "propaganda against the system".

This verdict was delivered to Mr. Mahmoudnejad in the past few days.

Also, in August of this year, this eye-injured protester was sentenced to three months of imprisonment and 30 lashes by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of Piranshahr on charges of "disrupting public order and security by participating in protests and inciting people to violence through cyberspace". After protesting this verdict, it was changed to paying eight million tomans in cash.

On July 15, Sadeq Mahmoudnejad was temporarily released from Naghdeh prison by posting a four billion tomans bail.

This protester was transferred to Naghdeh prison after completing the interrogation stages at the Piranshahr Intelligence Detention Center.

On July 3, security forces raided the home of this eye-injured protester without presenting a judicial warrant and arrested him.

Sadeq Mahmoudnejad was severely wounded by the shooting of the repressive forces in the "Mamosta Hajar" square of Piranshahr during the revolutionary uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi at 11 pm on September 21, 2022.

This protester was severely injured by the impact of shotgun pellets his left eye retina was torn and his vision was 20 percent.

Mr. Mahmoudnejad underwent surgery several times at Khomeini Hospital in Urmia, Farabi Hospital in Tehran, and Imam Sajjad Hospital in Ramsar.

Sadeq Mahmoudnejad, 23, from the village of "Jaran" in Piranshahr, is married and has one child.
