Urmia prison/ Arsalan Khodkam's left eye is facing serious vision problems
Arsalan Khodkam's left eye, a Kurdish political prisoner from Mahabad city who is serving his sentence in Urmia prison, has developed vision problems due to a lack of medical treatment.
According to an informed source to Kurdpa, following the constant opposition of the authorities of Urmia prison to the eye surgery of this political prisoner outside the prison, his left eye's vision has been impaired.
This informed source added that the officials of Urmia prison had requested heavy bail for sending this Kurdish political prisoner to medical leave and his family could not provide bail.
This informed source stated: that Arsalan Khodkam's eyes need urgent medical treatment and the prison officials are unconcerned to his situation.
In 2021, the death sentence of this political prisoner was commuted to life imprisonment with one degree of reduction based on Article 20 of the Amnesty and Forgiveness Commission.
In November 2020, this Kurdish political prisoner wrote a letter to the head of the judiciary requesting a re-examination of his case and holding a fair trial away from the influence and pressure of the intelligence officers.
Previously, the Supreme Court had confirmed Arsalan Khodkam's death sentence under pressure from the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
Arsalan Khodkam, a political prisoner detained in Urmia Central Prison, was arrested on May 24, 2018, on charges of "spying and collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government" and was interrogated for 36 days in solitary confinement at the Mahdi Revolutionary Guards' Intelligence Department in Urmia.
This political prisoner was then transferred to Urmia prison and on June 29 of that year he was sentenced to death by Branch One of the Military Court of Urmia.
