Saqqez; Civil Activist Ayoub Javanpour Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison
Ayoub Javanpour, a civil activist from Saqqez, has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in the city, presided over by Judge "Keyvan Jahani."
According to the verdict issued on Saturday, July 22nd, this civil activist has been sentenced to one year of disciplinary imprisonment on charges of "propaganda against the system," ten years of disciplinary imprisonment for "leading a group of more than two people inside the country with the aim of undermining national security," two years of disciplinary imprisonment for "insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran," and another two years of disciplinary imprisonment for "insulting the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
The court ruling against this civil activist, obtained by Kurdpa, states: "In accordance with Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code and Article 12 of the Law on Reduction of Disciplinary Imprisonment, due to the consideration of multiple offenses, only the most severe punishment will be enforced. If the most severe punishment is reduced or converted based on legal grounds or is rendered non-executable due to reasons such as legal amnesty or the lapse of time, the next most severe punishment will be enforced, and in that case, the previous amount of executed punishment will be taken into account in the execution of the next most severe punishment."
The verdict against this civil activist was given in person, and within twenty days from the date of notification, it can be appealed at the Appeals Court of Kurdistan Province.
On Saturday, June 10th, security forces arrested Mr. Javanpour without a judicial order and resorted to violence. He was taken to the intelligence detention center in Sanandaj for interrogation.
After completing the interrogation process, Mr. Javanpour was transferred to Saqqez Prison.
