September 26, 2026 — Over recent days, the Instagram page of Fereshteh Karimi, a young Kurdish woman residing in Mahmudabad (Firuzkuh), Tehran Province, who works as a blogger and motorcyclist, was blocked by order of judicial authorities due to her "wearing traditional Kurdish attire and performing Kurdish dances." The action followed repeated summonses by Tehran’s Cyber Police (FATA) and coincided with the anniversary of the state-sanctioned killing of Jina-Mahsa Amini.

A notice posted to the biography section of her account—which had 179,000 followers—reads: "This page has been blocked by order of judicial authorities."

An informed source confirmed the news to Kurdpa, stating: "Fereshteh Karimi, a Kurdish resident of Mahmudabad (Firuzkuh) in Tehran, was repeatedly summoned by Tehran’s Cyber Police and instructed to stop wearing traditional Kurdish clothing and performing Kurdish dances in her videos. Ultimately, on September 16, 2026—coinciding with the anniversary of Jina-Mahsa Amini’s death—her Instagram page was forcibly taken down by FATA."

The source added that Karimi lives with her family in Mahmudabad, where they engage in agriculture and gardening, while she also works as a content creator and motorcyclist.

This incident follows a broader crackdown on digital expression. Over the same period, the Instagram page of Setayesh Sadeghzadeh, a 13-year-old Kurmanji Kurdish musician from Khorasan with over one million followers, was similarly blocked by judicial order after she posted a performance dedicated to protest victims.
