Reissuing the death sentence for Naib Askari, a Kurdish political prisoner

Naib Askari, a Kurdish political prisoner from Urmia, was once again sentenced to death by the second branch of the Revolutionary Court of this city on charges of "war against God" through membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government.

 According to an informed source of Kurdpa, on Saturday, April 15th, this verdict was delivered to the lawyer of this Kurdish political prisoner.

 Naib Askari, a Kurdish citizen from Urmia, was arrested on March 24, 2021 by the forces of the Intelligence Organization of the Urmia Revolutionary Guards and after three months of detention in the detention center of this security institution, he was transferred to the central prison of Urmia.

 It is said that he has been residing in the Kurdistan region of Iraq for the past few years and was sentenced to death in absentia by the Islamic Revolution Court of Urmia on charges of "War against God" through membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government.

 After this political prisoner's protest, his death sentence was overturned and his case was referred to the second branch of Urmia Revolutionary Court for retrial.

 This political prisoner suffers from kidney stone disease and despite the advice of doctors to treat him outside the prison, he has been denied access to medical services due to the opposition of the prison officials.

 On Monday, December 12, 2021, Naib Askari, with other political prisoners imprisoned in Urmia prison, went on a hunger strike in protest against the decision of the prison authorities to transfer these prisoners to the high security prison.

 Also, in August 2021, this political prisoner, following a conflict between several political prisoners and prisoners of general crimes, filed a complaint with the head of Urmia Central Prison along with two other Kurdish political prisoners named "Keyhan Makram" and "Naib Hajizadeh" on the charge of "disturbing the order in prison, he was sentenced to 50 lashes and three months in prison.
