In Kurdistan of the 21st century, freedom of speech and any type of liberal voices raised against the main stream ideologies are unforgivable crimes which are brutally oppressed and inhumanly silenced under the perpetual shadow of the governing regimes in Kurdistan. In the Iranian and Turkish Kurdistan, writers and intellectuals are imprisoned, tortured, and executed on a daily basis.
The mentioned regimes systematically and conspicuously endeavor to exterminate the identity of the Kurdish nation in anyway possible.
Such attempt to terminate the Kurdish identity is not a new phenomenon. Throughout the history of the Iranian, Turkish, Syrian and Iraqi regimes these atrocities to suppress the fundamental human rights have always been quite common. The current program the Iranian and Turkish regimes are trying to launch as an initiative to create reform and dialogue within the Kurdish political atmosphere is completely superficial and solely designed to appease the public opinion of the world , and in reality force and oppression are the only discourse of these primitive and barbaric regimes . The killing apparatus of these regimes is in constant motion within the streets and alleys to eradicate the Kurdish nation. In their most recent act of aggression we can point out to the severe assault and raiding of the Nourouz celebrations of the Kurdish people of Turkey by the military forces of the regime ( AKP ) which led to the arrest , injuries and death of hundreds of people .
What has been and is currently occurring , especially in Turkish Kurdistan , is the continuous practice of a racist policy of the most medieval nature which can only be attributed to the age of slavery .
But we the people of the Kurdish nation and the association of Kurdish writers , are intensely intrigued by the lingering silence of various international organizations that claim to support and defend human rights in the light of these unquestionable violations .
The Kurdish nation within all four regions and in particular in Turkish Kurdistan have always struggled to protest against these extreme and clear violations of the most basic human rights by any means possible.
At the moment 15 writers and human rights and women’s rights activists who are reputed figures within the Kurdish society , in Strasbourg France , have gone into hunger strike for an unlimited period in front of the European committee for the prevention of torture (CPT) as a last resort of dissent in order to attain justice for the Kurdish people .
The association of Kurdish writers supports the righteous demands of these protesters in Strasbourg who are sacrificing their health for this human and moral cause , and hold all relative organizations responsible for their wellbeing .
Furthermore we earnestly expect these international organizations to break their silence and take decisive measures to fulfill the requirements of the Strasbourg demonstrators who are risking their lives in front of the eyes of the world.
