Student activist and his family threatened by the Iran Intelligence Agency

KURDPA - Sohrab Karimi\'s family members are being under a great pressure and intimidation by the Intelligence Agency of Iranian Regime. He has left the country because of the security threats by the government organizations.

According to a report sent to KURDPA News Agency by the human rights activists in Ghorwa (a city located in Kurdistan province, Iran), Sohrab Karimi did an MA degree in political science and is a civil and student activist. He has been arrested and sentenced several times illegitimately. He had to leave the country after being summoned by the Security Forces in Ghorwa.

The Security Agencies accused his family and close friends to help him escape, they have threatened to arrest them. Sohrab Karimi previously was arrested on Dec 7, 2007 and detained for 76 days in Ward 290 of Evin Prison. Then, he was sentenced to 74 lashes and 5 years in jail based on the Article 500 and 618 of the Islamic Penal Code.

He has been repeatedly summoned and interrogated in connection with the demonstration against the disputed presidential election in 2008.

He was the candidate of ninth parliamentary election but not only disqualified by the Executive and Election Observation Missions, but also was intimidated by the Regime\'s Security Entities.
