Simko Khelqati released from prison

Kurdpa Agency: A Kurdish political prisoner and activist was released from “Tabas” central prison in Southern Khorasan.
According to a report received by Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa), on Wednesday, May 9, Simko Khalqati, a nuclear expert and Kurdish political prisoner from Mahabad, was released after spending nine years in prison.
In a brief conversation with Kurdpa, Simko said that “the courts used the maximum punishments and conditions in my case.”
Simko Khelqati a nuclear expert was working in Arak as an engineer when he was detained by the regime forces. He was later sentenced to 15-years in prison by the evolutionary Court of Arak on charges related to \"acting against national security through membership in the Kurdish parties of the Islamic State of Iran\'s opposition.\"
Upon his release, Simko served 9 years out of the 15 years. He currently resides in Mahabad.
