Kurdpa: Kurdish political activist, Muxtar Zarei, has been summoned to Sina’s Islamic Revolutionary Court.

Kurdpa has learned that Muxtar Zarei’s trial was scheduled for June 17 in Branch One Revolutionary Court of Sana (Sanadaj in Persian).
In a post on his Facebook wall, the Kurdish political activist had stated that his latest charges were “Propaganda against the state”, “Blasphemy” and “Spreading lies”.

“Fortunately, most of the charges have been dropped following my attorney’s defence in court”,Zarei’s post read.

The sentence for all three charges can range from three month imprisonment to the death penalty.

“The evidence of their charges are all of my Facebook posts,” he stated. “I will not delete any of my Facebook’s contents, including text and photos, so the reasons for my arrest, incarceration, trial and punishment would be known to public”, his Facebook post further read.

Muxtar Zarei was last arrested in March, where he was held until April to face charges laid 6 six years ago.

“If the Court agrees I request my trial to be held in open with jury and journalists to be present, because my charges are political and the evidences presented are all my writings, so in a way my charges can be described as press charges, which are normally held in open”, he stated.

Zarei was a member of Democratic Kurdish Student Union. He was held for three months in 2009 by Sina’s intelligence office for organizing a first anniversary for the death of “Ebrahim Lotfolahi”.
