Iran’s Islamic Court Delivers a 12 Year Sentence for Kurdish Activist

Kurdpa: Islamic Court in Wurme (Orumieh in Persian) sentences a Kurdish activist from the city of Piranshar to 12 year imprisonment.

Kurdpa has learned that “Omid Mamandnejad” a Kurdish civilian from the city of Piranshar was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of the city of Wurme.

According to people involved and familiar with his case, he has been charged with “membership in one of the Kurdish political parties opposing the Islamic Republic of Iran, and endangering national security.”

Penasey Omid Mamandnejad، a Kurdish civilian from the city of Piranshar is sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of the city of Wurme.

The source also told Kurdpa that “The Islamic Court in Wurme has charged Omid Mamandnejad without his presence in court.”

Omid Mamandnejad was arrested on March 14, 2014 by the intelligence agents in Piranshar. He was interrogated at the notorious intelligence office in Piranshar for two months. He was then transferred to Wurme’s Central Prison.

In the two years leading to his sentence, Omid Mamandnejad was kept in the Central Prison in Wurme in abeyance without any trials.
