Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa): The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) installed an artillery in a village in the city of Piranshar (Piranshahr).
According to reports received by Kurdpa, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) deployed troops equipped with heavy guns to Kawpar village in the city of Piranshar a few days ago.
Based on our source’s reports sending within the IRGC troops in Piranshar, the IRGC has installed an artillery in Kawpar aimed at shelling mountains located in outskirts of Piranshar.
The installation of the artillery has risen concern among the village’s residents, according to our source.
Since the Kurdish opposition parties intensified their activities in 2016, the IRGC have set up dozen artilleries in border regions of Piranshar and Shno (Oshnavieh) and shelled the mountainous border regions of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
On the 17th of July, two Peshmerga, Rahim Dastan, from Mahabad and Edris Darwishi, from Piranshar were lost their lives when the IRGC shelled a headquarter of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), located on the border regions of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
Last year in reaction to shelling the KRG, Mohammad Pakpour, the Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces told Fars, an Iranian semi-official news agency: “As we have in various occasions said, we insist on this kind of action and have the right to target anti-revolutionary groups, that are training and planning to destabilize border region, in any spot”.
The KRG’s officials believe: “Iranian government and the Kurdish opposition groups should solve their problems on negotiation table”.
