Filtering slows down internet connections in Iran

Kurdpa - Iranian officials have admitted that the slow pace of internet connections in the country is a direct result of government security procedures such as the filtering of websites.
A lack of advanced communication technology is another reason for the frequent interruptions experienced daily by Iranian internet users.
Reza Rahmani, deputy head of industry and mining in the Majles (parliament) told Farda News: “As a global communications network, the internet presents certain security issues to the government, but filtering is not in my view an ideal response, as users have found ways to bypass it. We may have legitimate concerns but we should not deal with them by interfering with online access.”
