19:48 - 8 May 2015
Kurdpa: Reliable sources inside Mahabad have confirmed to Kurdpa News Agency that the unrest has continued well into the evening and is now spreading to neighbouring cities, as well.

Eye witnesses have reported to Kurdpa that Special Guards have been dispatched from surrounding cities to crack down on the protesters.

Kurdpa has learned that protest organizers and social media activists have planned protests in other Kurdish cities, including Mariwan, Bokan and Piranshar in solidarity with Mahabad and the chambermaid victim, Farinaz Khosrovani.

On May 4, 2015, Farinaz Khosrowani, an employee of the four– star Hotel Tara in Mahabad jumped out of one of the hotel’s windows. She escaped her rapist, an agent and collaborator of the intelligence ministry.

Her death has sparked a wave of grief across Iran’s Kurdistan region. Her home town, Mahabad, witnessed a riot as protesters stormed the hotel where she had plunged to her death.
