Kurdpa: Six local members of Iran’s notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed by unknown gunmen in the Shaho district of the city of Kamyaran.

Kurdpa News Agency has learned that on Tuesday, 9 June, six paramilitary IRGC members came under fire by unknown gunmen in ‘Tawqegoez’ Scenic Park between the villages of ‘Takhti Zange’ and ‘Sar Shilaneh’.

Kurdpa reporter from the city of kamiyaran has learned of the identity of one of the killed IRGC members as ‘Jabar Gol Mohammadi’ from the village of ‘Tangi War’ in the suburbs of Kamyaran.

Reports affirm that ‘Jabar GolMohammadi’ was in fact a local member and collaborator of the IRGC. He has been one of the prominent faces of the IRGC in the region since the Revolution of 1979.

There are conflicting reports about the details of the clashes, with some locals lay the blame on the armed smugglers while others believe the IRGC unit came under fire and were killed by PKK linked PJAK fighters.

In separate incidents, several IRGC members have been injured and killed in different cities in Kurdistan: On Tuesday, 2 June, an Iranian security official was shot in the Kurdish city of Saqez and was seriously wounded.

On Monday, 1 June, at least seven members of IRGC were injured or killed in a clash between the villages of Shmole and Shendre, located 15 kilometres outside the Kurdish town of Rabat.

Following the deployment of Iranian Kurdish Peshmarga forces closer to the border regions, Iran has increased its military presence in Kurdistan, and begun digging trenches on its border, and deployed a large number of IRGC operatives in different Kurdish cities and on the border.
