Aram Fathi was acquitted in the appeal court

Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa): Sanandaj Appeal Court found a Kurdish human rights activist, Aram Fathi, from Mariwan, not guilty.
According to reliable sources, on Sunday, the 26th of August, after two years, the Aram fathi’s two-year-imprisonment sentence was overturned by the Sanandaj Appeal Court.
On January 30, 2017, he was sentenced to two years imprisonment on charge of ‘’propaganda against the regime through setting up ‘No to Kill Kolbaran campaign’ and protesting against ‘the death roads’’ by the Revolutionary court of Mariwan.
Accused of those charges, he had been arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Service in December 2017.
In another case, Aram has been sentenced to a year suspended imprisonment for a three-year-duration on charge of ‘illegally crossing the border’ by Tehran Ghods Court. Aram’s appeal regarding to this conviction has not yet been heard.
Aram Fathi is one of the famous human rights activists in Mariwan. He teaches Kurdish writing in Vajin Literary, Cultural Organization.
