Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa): A Kurdish political prisoner, from Dizeli Margawar, a district of Urmia went on hunger strike due to the Urmia Court’s decision against his demand for release.
According to reliable sources, on August 14, Farhad Sahrapaima, who is serving his sixth-year prison sentence in Urmia prison, went on hunger strike to lodge a complaint against the recent Urmia Court’s decision that hadn’t accepted his demand for early release and hadn’t applied the article 134 related to accumulate the sentences for his case.
According to a reliable source from Urmia Prison, having been on hunger, Farhad was transferred to solitary confinement by the prison guards.
“He had demanded the court to apply the accumulation of sentences for his case based on the article 134 of the Islamic Punishment laws. If the court had applied it, he would have been released from prison”, added the source.
Farhad Sahrapaima was arrested in December of 2012 and accused of ‘cooperation with the Kurdish opposition groups’. Later, The Urmia Revolutionary Court sentenced him to seven years’ imprisonment.
