A Kurdish citizen sentenced to death

Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa): A Kurdish citizen, from Shno (Oshnavieh) was sentenced to death by the second branch of Urmia Revolutionary Court.

According to our correspondents, Mahiadin Ebrahimi, 40, son of Mohammad, from Alkawi village, located in the city of Shno was sentenced to death by Urmia Revolutionary Court.

The court sentenced him on charge of “cooperation with and membership in a Kurdish opposition political party”.

Mahiadin Ebrahimi was arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Service after being shot and wounded by them on November 3, 2017.

After being arrested, he was taken to a hospital is Urmia from which he was before completing the course of treatment transferred to a detention place of the Umria branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) called Saidalshohada in which he was interrogated, beaten to death and charged with ‘“cooperation with and membership in a Kurdish opposition political party”.

On the 20th of August, 2018, his trial was held without having access to lawyer in the second branch of Urmia Revolutionary Court chaired by Judge Shikhlou. Today, the 23rd of September, Mahiadin Ebrahimi was officially received his sentence to death.

Mahiadin had previously been arrested on the same charge (cooperation with a Kurdish opposition group) in 2010. After serving his prison sentence, he had been released from jail.
