October 25, 2026; Rojan Ebrahimi, a 20-year-old young Kurdish woman and mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete from Saqqez, attempted suicide following repeated summons, threats, and pressure from the Intelligence Department to coerce her into cooperating in identifying and trapping political activists outside of Iran. Her life was saved after spending five days hospitalized. Since her arrest in early September 2026, her mobile phone, SIM card, and Instagram account have also been in the possession of security forces, and these tools and accounts have been misused to send messages to political activists abroad.

According to an informed source speaking to Kurdpa, on Monday, October 19, 2026, "Rojan Ebrahimi"—who had previously been arrested by security forces in early September and subsequently released on bail—attempted suicide following repeated summons to the Saqqez Intelligence Department and ongoing pressure from this security institution to cooperate in tricking and trapping political activists abroad. Her family quickly noticed her attempt, transferred her to a medical center, and her life was saved.

According to this informed source, security forces confiscated the young athlete's mobile phone, SIM card, and Instagram account without legal authorization from the very beginning of her arbitrary arrest. They then used her account to send messages to political activists abroad, insulting, threatening, and disrespecting them. Subsequently, they created new pages on Instagram under her name and are now using these pages to send messages to political activists outside of Iran. Concurrently, Rojan Ebrahimi has faced severe threats and pressures to collaborate with this security institution.

The source also stated that the young woman's mobile phone and Instagram account have been in the custody of security forces for 23 days. According to the source, security forces subjected Rojan Ebrahimi to intense pressure through threats such as fabricating a case, issuing heavy sentences, re-arrest, torture, and harassment to compel her to cooperate with the Saqqez Intelligence Department—collaboration that had to be carried out according to the demands of this security body. The source emphasized that the continuation and escalation of these pressures during this period ultimately led to her suicide attempt.

The informed Kurdpa source stated that the young athlete was hospitalized for five days, and to save her life after she attempted suicide by ingesting pills, her stomach was pumped. According to the source, even during her hospital stay, Rojan Ebrahimi did not feel safe due to repeated pressures from the Intelligence Department and requested early discharge before completing her medical treatment.

Based on photographs of Rojan Ebrahimi's hospitalization in one of Saqqez's hospitals obtained by Kurdpa, she is seen on a hospital bed after having her stomach pumped, while a gastric lavage tube, IV drip equipment, and an angiocatheter are connected to her hand.

"Rojan Ebrahimi," a 20-year-old young Kurdish woman and MMA athlete from Saqqez, was arrested on the evening of Saturday, October 3, 2026, following a raid by Intelligence Department security forces on her family home without a judicial warrant, and was transferred to an undisclosed location. She was temporarily released on bail after a time, but her mobile phone and Instagram account remained illegally in the possession of this security institution.

The Kurdpa Human Rights Organization strongly condemns the application of pressure, threats, case fabrication, and severe psychological torture against citizens—particularly women and the athletic community—which in the case of "Rojan Ebrahimi" led to this 20-year-old young woman's suicide attempt. Kurdpa considers these illegal behaviors, coupled with the hostage-taking of personal communication tools, to be a clear manifestation of "psychological torture," "forced espionage," and a "flagrant violation of human rights." The Kurdpa Human Rights Organization acknowledges that this case clearly demonstrates how the Islamic Republic advances internal and trans-national repression in a "combined and intertwined" manner—a repressive pattern in which women and athletes inside the country are exploited as bait and instruments of pressure against political activists abroad. More than anything, this practice reflects the deepening of systematic repression, the collapse of fair trial standards, and the resort of security institutions to criminal and inhumane methods in overt violation of international human rights obligations.
