Ilam; Continuation of Mass and Violent Detentions of Kurdish Citizens in Ilam; 6 More Individuals Arrested
February 1, 2026; From January 9 to January 26, 2026, at least 6 Kurdish citizens from various cities and villages in “Ilam” province—identified as “Dr. Hossein Shokri,” “Saber Basati,” “Noureddin Chelengar,” “Faraj Arsan,” “Elias Javanmard,” and “Ahmad Sheikhi”—have been arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic in a violent manner and without the presentation of a judicial warrant.
These citizens are being held in undisclosed locations, and after a period ranging from several days to more than 24 days since the time of arrest, no official information regarding their status, place of detention, or potential charges is available.
Details of the detainees are as follows:
Dr. Hossein Shokri, a Kurdish citizen from “Ilam,” arrested on January 25, 2026; duration of lack of information: 8 days.
Saber Basati, a 38-year-old individual from “Ilam” and resident of “Karaj,” arrested on January 9, 2026; duration of lack of information: 24 days.
Noureddin Chelengar, a 30-year-old Kurdish youth from “Chardavol,” arrested on January 26, 2026; duration of lack of information: 7 days.
Faraj Arsan, a Kurdish youth from “Malekshahi” and a civil and environmental activist, arrested on January 10, 2026; duration of lack of information: 23 days. He had previously been arrested on April 3, 2024, for participating in Nowruz ceremonies.
Elias Javanmard, a Kurdish citizen from “Lumar,” arrested on January 19, 2026; duration of lack of information: 14 days.
Ahmad Sheikhi, a Kurdish citizen from “Dehloran” and an employee of the “Department of Water,” arrested on January 22, 2026; duration of lack of information: 11 days.
It should be noted that all these citizens are being held in undisclosed locations and are deprived of the right to access a lawyer and the right to visit their families.
