Sanandaj; Hunger Strike of 9 Political Prisoners in Solidarity with the Nationwide Strikes of Kurdistan

January 8, 2026; Simultaneously with the nationwide strike in various cities of Kurdistan, 9 political prisoners held in Sanandaj Central Prison announced the start of their hunger strike in solidarity with this protest movement by issuing a statement.

The Nozhin Cultural-Social Association has published in this regard; the striking prisoners, while appreciating the support of the people of Kurdistan Rojhelat for the Kurdistanis of Ilam, Kermanshah, and Lorestan, declared their support and solidarity with Ilam and Kermanshah of Kurdistan and joined the general strike of Kurdistan in the form of a hunger strike.

Along with thanks and gratitude for the support of the people of Rojhelat Kurdistan for the Kurdistanis of Ilam, Kermanshah, and Lorestan, we, the prisoners of Sanandaj Central Prison, declare our support and sympathy for Ilam and Kermanshah of Kurdistan and join the general strike of Kurdistan by way of a hunger strike.
