Kermanshah: Mamosta Ayat Gholami Arrested After Summons to Special Clerical Court

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Mamosta Ayat Gholami, a Sunni cleric and former imam of Mohammad al-Mostafa Mosque in Kermanshah, as well as a teacher at a religious seminary, was arrested after appearing before the Kermanshah branch of the Special Clerical Court following a formal summons.
Previously, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, he had been summoned by the Protection Office for Clerics in Kermanshah, where he was banned from leading prayers and participating in mosque-related activities on the order of the same authority.
Mamosta Gholami had previously been repeatedly summoned by security institutions for a range of actions, including:
Refusing to endorse government elections,
Signing a statement condemning the execution of Mamosta Mohammad Khazrnezhad,
Protesting the arrest and restrictions on other clerics,
Condemning the killing of kolbars (border porters) and fuel carriers,
Criticizing state officials, and
Organizing Sunni Islamic religious rituals.
