The accusation of "rebellion" against Vrisheh Moradi, a Kurdish women's activist
Vrisheh Moradi (Juwana Seneh), a Kurdish women's activist, was accused of "rebellion" by Branch 5 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Tehran. An accusation that could lead to heavy sentences.
According to an informed source, this Kurdish women's activist was summoned twice to Branch 5 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Tehran during her detention and was accused of "rebellion" through membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government.
The informed source added: that Ms. Moradi's case was referred to Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Judge "Salavati", after the indictment was issued by the prosecutor's office.
On December 27, 2023, Vrisheh Moradi was transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison after completing the interrogation stages from Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
This Kurdish women's activist has been deprived of access to a chosen lawyer so far and has only met with her family once.
Ms. Moradi was transferred to the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj after being arrested and after two weeks of interrogation for forced confessions, she was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison at the end of August of 2023.
Vrisheh Moradi was a member of the Free Women's Society of Eastern Kurdistan and this women's organization announced on September 25, 2023, by issuing a statement addressed to the public opinion, the special rapporteur on human rights of the United Nations in Iran and international human rights organizations that Vrisheh Moradi was present in Kurdistan for "carrying out political and organizational activities for women".
The Free Women's Society of Eastern Kurdistan emphasized: "Considering the enforced disappearance of our friend Juwana Seneh by the forces of the Intelligence Organization of the Revolutionary Guards and the Ministry of Intelligence, we hold the Islamic Republic of Iran responsible for his life."
Also, this women's organization asked the public opinion, the special rapporteur on human rights of the United Nations in Iran, and human rights organizations to take the necessary actions regarding the disappearance of Vrisheh Moradi and the "scenario-making of the security agencies" against her.
