The prison sentence of Azad Khanchazar, a labor and social activist, was changed to a cash fine

The six-month correctional imprisonment sentence of Azad Khanchazar, a labor and social activist from Marivan, was changed to a cash fine by the announcement of the legal medicine of Kurdistan province based on the inability to endure imprisonment in the court of appeal.

This labor activist has stated in this regard that:  while I am undergoing treatment for the disease with exorbitant medical expenses, I was forced to pay a cash fine to prevent the execution of the verdict.

The fourth branch of the Court of Appeal of Kurdistan Province rejected the appeal of this labor and social activist and confirmed his imprisonment sentence.

The Revolutionary Court of Marivan, based on the reports of the intelligence office of this city, had sentenced Mr. Khanchazar to six months of correctional imprisonment with the calculation of previous detention days for "propaganda against the system through cyberspace".

Azad Khanchazar was arrested by the security forces at his home without presenting a judicial verdict in December 2022 and was released from Marivan prison on bail in March 2023.
