In December 2023, Mohammad Mehdi (Kumar) Karami and Mohammad Hosseini, two of the detainees of the fortieth-day ceremony of Hadis Najafi, one of the martyrs of the revolutionary uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi, were executed without the right to access a lawyer in any of the stages of the trial and the last meeting with the family. Mohammad Mehdi had gone on a dry hunger strike a few days before the execution to get the right to a lawyer of his choice.
The execution of Mohammad Hosseini and Mohammad Mehdi Karami on charges of "corruption on earth" took place while both had explicitly stated that the charges against them were the result of forced confessions under torture. On the other hand, the court hearing the case of 16 people in this case took place within six days and only in three sessions.
Mohammad Hosseini and Mohammad Mehdi Karami were executed after the verdict was confirmed by the Supreme Court of the country and the right to seek justice from them was taken away. They were also told a few hours before the execution that they had been pardoned.
Mohammad Mehdi (Kumar) was born on October 31, 2001. He was a Kurdish Yarsani and originally from Bijar, a suburb of Kurdistan province. Mr. Karami was also a karate champion in Iran.
Seyed Mohammad Hosseini was born on February 20, 1982. Mohammad Hosseini had no parents and was a champion in martial arts of kung fu and wushu.
