The case of Reza Rasaee referred to the execution of the sentences of the criminal court of Kermanshah

The case of Reza Rasaee, a political prisoner sentenced to death and one of the detainees of the revolutionary uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi, who is serving his sentence in Diesel Abad prison in Kermanshah, was referred to the execution of the sentences of the criminal court of Kermanshah.

According to an informed source, on December 31, 2023, the case of Mr. Rasaee was referred to the execution of the sentences of the criminal court of Kermanshah and he is in danger of being executed.

The informed source added: Bahman Reihani, the commander of the Nabi Akram Corps of Kermanshah province, has demanded the immediate execution of Reza Rasaee.

A copy of the verdict confirming the death sentence of this political prisoner in branch 17 of the Supreme Court of the country was obtained by Kurdpa, which this branch of the court, headed by Judge "Mohammad Barani", on December 16, 2023, rejected the defenses of Mr. Rasaee and the opinion of the examining physician of the legal medicine of Sahneh city and confirmed his death sentence.

In the verdict of the Supreme Court of the country, it is stated that the execution of the death sentence of this political prisoner is subject to the approval of the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On November 3, 2023, Kheirollah Haqjouyan, a Kurdish Yarsani activist and former political prisoner, published a video as the guarantor of Reza Rasaee, while emphasizing breaking the silence against the issuance of the death sentence against this political prisoner, criticized the judge's unjust verdict, unfair trial against Mr. Rasaee and the issuance of orders that are the scribbles of the security agencies.

This member of the Consultative Assembly of Yarsani Civil Activists, referring to the issuance of a verdict without proving the crime against Reza Rasaee, said about his case; Arbitrary arrest, lack of access of Reza Rasaee to a lawyer, lack of access to the file, engineering public opinion, ambiguity of the cases and evidence, entry of false witnesses as defendants and incitement of them against each other and threat and forced confession are among the cases of unfair trial and failure to discover the truth.

Reza (Gholamreza) Rasaee, 34, a Kurdish Yarsani citizen from Sahneh city district of Kermanshah, was arrested during the commemoration of the 21st anniversary of Seyyed Khalil Ali Nejad, one of the leaders of the Kurdish Yarsani, and in connection with the protests of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi, following the government killing of Jina-Mahsa Amini, was sentenced to death, payment of blood money, one year of imprisonment and 74 lashes.

This protester was arrested by branch 2 of the criminal court of Kermanshah on charges of "direct involvement in premeditated murder" of Nader Beirami, the head of the intelligence organization of the Revolutionary Guards of Sahneh City, "direct involvement in causing intentional non-fatal injuries not leading to death", "demonstration and show of force with a knife" and "disruption of public order by creating noise and controversy" and sentenced to death (retribution), payment of blood money, one year of imprisonment and 74 lashes.

The last court session of him was on September 21, 2023, and his death sentence was communicated in writing to his lawyers on October 7, 2023.

Reza Rasaee rejected all the charges brought against him during the court sessions and repeatedly stated that he was forced to make confessions against himself in the detention center of the intelligence department of Sahneh due to "torture and threat of rape".

Reza Rasaee was arrested by the intelligence department agents in Shahriar, Tehran province on November 24, 2022, and transferred to Sahneh City. He had been tortured severely for a week in the detention center of the intelligence department of Sahneh to accept the charge of "participation in murder" of Nader Beirami.

He was transferred to Diesel Abad prison in Kermanshah after the end of the interrogation period and again after a few weeks, along with several other detainees during the anniversary of Seyyed Khalil Ali Nejad, was transferred from Diesel Abad prison in Kermanshah the detention center of the intelligence department of this city for 21 days.

On November 18, 2022, during the commemoration of the 21st anniversary of Seyyed Khalil Ali Nejad, a famous artist and one of the leaders of the Kurdish Yarsani community in Sahneh city, which was attended by thousands of people and joined the protests of Zan, Zian, Azadi in protest of the government killing of Zina-Mahsa Amini; it was turned violent by the attack of the security-repressive forces and throwing tear gas and firing live bullets by them. The Consultative Assembly of Yarsani Civil Activists reported in this regard; "In this violence, dozens of people were arrested and several others were killed and injured, and the head of the intelligence department of the Revolutionary Guards of Sahneh city was among the killed."

According to Kurdpa sources, in this case, six other citizens named "Farhad Big Grousi, Seyed Rasoul Rezavi, Seyed Masoum Rezavi, Armin Haqi Manjag, Pouria Monti Manjag Tappeh, and Shajam Monti Manjag Tappeh" were charged with "disruption of public order" through controversy and noise and sentenced to one year of imprisonment and 74 lashes.

Kurdpa sources announced that while the ceremony on November 18, 2022, continued peacefully and with chanting popular slogans and condemning the massacre and repression of the people there are still many questions about the purpose of the security-repressive forces from turning violent this ceremony that held every year; the issuance of the death sentence for Reza Rasaee in an unfair court and without access to a lawyer at the time of interrogation and arbitrary arrest, indicates the security cases against the people and the continuation of the suppression of the people's protests of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi.
