Seizure of the "Sakharov" prize, passport, and mobile phone of Saleh Nikbakht after returning from France
On Friday night, December 22, 2023, Saleh Nikbakht, a lawyer defending the family of Jina-Mahsa Amini, was interrogated by security forces at Khomeini Airport in Tehran after returning from a trip to France, and security forces also seized the Sakharov Prize of the European Parliament, which was awarded to Jina-Mahsa Amini and the revolutionary uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi.
According to an informed source, security forces, in addition to the Sakharov Prize, confiscated the passport and mobile phone of this lawyer.
The informed source added: Security forces at Khomeini Airport in Tehran told this Kurdish lawyer that he was banned from leaving the country by judicial authorities and in the past few days, the ban order of this lawyer was sent to his Sana system.
The informed source stated: The verdict of imprisonment of Saleh Nikbakht was confirmed in the Court of Appeal, but the lawyer of his case submitted a request for retrial to the Supreme Court and his case was referred to Branch 9 of the Supreme Court for review.
The informed source said: In a warning to Mr. Nikbakht, it was announced that he should introduce himself to Branch 1 of the Criminal Enforcement Court of Moghaddas Tehran in the coming days to execute his prison sentence.
On December 13, 2023, the Prize for Freedom of Thought (Sakharov) of the European Parliament was awarded to Jina-Mahsa Amini and the revolutionary uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi.
Saleh Nikbakht, the lawyer of Jina-Mahsa Amini's family, participated in the ceremony of awarding the Sakharov Prize in the European Parliament and after reading the message of Mojgan Eftekhari, Jina's mother, on behalf of the Amini family, received this prize.
At dawn on Saturday, December 9, 2023, the family of Jina-Mahsa Amini was supposed to travel to France to attend the ceremony of awarding the Sakharov Prize in the European Parliament, but security forces at Khomeini Airport in Tehran prevented the family from traveling to this country.
Security forces told Mojgan Eftekhari, Amjad Amini, and Ashkan Amini that they were banned from leaving the country and their passports were confiscated at the airport.
On October 17, 2023, Saleh Nikbakht, the lawyer of Jina-Mahsa Amini's case, was sentenced by Branch 28 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Judge "Amoozad", without regard to his defenses and his lawyer "Ali Rezaei", to the maximum punishment of propaganda against the system, namely one year of discretionary imprisonment and complementary punishment of "prohibition of activity in cyberspace for 2 years".
