Mojgan Kavousi was transferred to Tonekabon prison to serve her prison sentence
On December 18, Mojgan Kavousi, a researcher and one of the activists of linguistic and ethnic rights from Kelardasht, Mazandaran, was arrested after being summoned to the branch of criminal sentences execution of this city and transferred to Tonekabon prison to serve her prison sentence.
In November of this year, Ms. Kavousi's prison sentence was confirmed by the ninth branch of the Supreme Court of the country.
On January 3, 2023, this researcher was released from Ghaemshahr prison with a bail deposit of three billion tomans after spending 104 days in temporary detention and being acquitted of the charge of "corruption on earth".
Mojgan Kavousi was sentenced by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sari to 39 months in prison for the charge of "assembly and collusion against national security", to 15 months and one day in prison for the charge of "insulting the leader", and to 8 months in prison for the charge of "propaganda against the system" and was acquitted of the charge of "corruption on earth".
According to the law of the most severe punishment, 39 months in prison with the calculation of previous detention days for this Kurdish writer is enforceable.
On December 20, 2022, the first court session to hear the charges of this political prisoner was held in the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sari with the presence of Othman Mazin and Maziar Tatayi, the lawyers of the case, and in addition to the previous charges, he was also accused of "corruption on earth".
Ms. Kavousi was charged in the Noshahr court with "insulting the leader of the Iranian government", "spreading lies", "propaganda against the system", and "inciting and provoking people to war and massacre to disrupt the national security of the country" and "collaborating with hostile states". In the court stage, the acceptance of a lawyer for Mojgan Kavousi's case was opposed.
On September 22, 2022, this Kurdish activist was arrested at her home by security forces and transferred to Tonekabon prison after the end of the interrogation period.
Mojgan Kavousi had a previous conviction and on January 5, 2021, she was released from Kachoui prison in Karaj.
