Mahabad; Ashkan Fahim, a Kurdish literary activist, was sentenced to prison and exile

Ashkan Fahim, a Kurdish literary and cultural activist from Mahabad, was sentenced to prison and exile by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of this city, headed by Judge "Dusti".

According to an informed source, the court accused this cultural activist of "gathering and colluding against national security and propaganda against the system" and based on the verdict, he was sentenced to 45 months in prison and two years of exile to the city of Arak.

The informed source added: that Mr. Fahim has a history of heart disease and Judge "Dusti" refused to accept bail for temporary release.

On October 18, Ashkan Fahim was transferred from one of the security detention centers in Urmia to the prison of this city and then to Mahabad prison.

Reza Andisheh, a civil activist, and Ashkan Fahim, a literary and cultural activist, were arrested at 4 a.m. on September 24, 2023, by more than 60 armed forces of the Sepah Intelligence Organization at Ashkan Fahim's home. The Sepah forces, by besieging the alley where Ashkan lived and breaking the doors and windows of his house, arrested the two young men with severe violence and beat them with the buttons of their guns, while they were injured and bleeding.

According to an informed source to Kurdpa, the beating of the Sepah forces was so severe that Ashkan Fahim was transferred to one of the Sepah's security detention centers in Urmia by a blanket.

Reza Andisheh, a civil activist, was transferred to Mahabad prison on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, after a month of violent arrest and later released temporarily by posting bail.
