Four Kurdish clerics were sentenced to 11 years in prison

Mamosta Younes Nokhawah, Mamosta Sharif Mahmoudpour, Mamosta Seyed Soleiman Ahmadi, and Mamosta Seyed Jamaluddin Vaji from Piranshahr were collectively sentenced to 11 years in prison by the special court of clergy in Urmia.

The special court of clergy accused these four Kurdish clerics of "acting against national security, disturbing public opinion, signing a statement by Kurdish clerics in support of the revolutionary uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi and participating in protests" and based on the verdict issued, Mamosta Younes Nokhawah, one of the teachers of the Salahuddin Ayoubi School of Religious Sciences in Piranshahr, was sentenced to three years in prison, Mamosta Seyed Soleiman Ahmadi, one of the teachers of the Salahuddin Ayoubi School of Religious Sciences in Piranshahr, was sentenced to four years in prison, Mamosta Sharif Mahmoudpour, the imam of the Rasulullah Mosque in Pasveh Piranshahr, was sentenced to two years in prison and Mullah Seyed Jamaluddin Vaji, the imam of Pasveh Piranshahr, was sentenced to two years in prison.

These four Kurdish clerics were summoned to the special court of clergy in Urmia on December 14, and the verdicts were officially notified to them.

On January 24, 2022, Mamosta Younes Nokhawah was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant on the Pasveh-Piranshahr road and was released from Urmia prison on January 28, 2022, by depositing a bail of 500 million tomans.

Also, on January 16, 2022, Mamosta Younes Nokhawah was sentenced to imprisonment and permanent removal of clerical clothing by the sixth branch of the special court of clergy in Tabriz, headed by Judge "Ali Asghar Houshiyar".

On January 23, 2022, Mamosta Sharif Mahmoudpour and Mamosta Seyed Soleiman Ahmadi were each released from Urmia prison temporarily until the end of the trial by depositing a bail of 500 million tomans.

On January 24, 2022, Mamosta Sharif Mahmoudpour was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant after reading a statement by scholars and clerics of Piranshahr and its suburbs regarding the execution of protesters, arbitrary arrests, torture of prisoners and issuance of criminal verdicts for them, and was insulted and disrespected by these forces.

On January 24, 2022, Mamosta Seyed Soleiman Ahmadi was also arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant on the Pasveh-Piranshahr road.

On January 24, 2022, Mamosta Seyed Jamaluddin Vaji was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant and was released temporarily on January 19, 2022, by depositing a bail of 500 million tomans.
