The 14th anniversary of the execution of Ehsan Fatahian, a Kurdish political prisoner
November 11 is the fourteenth anniversary of the execution of Ehsan Fattahian, a Kurdish political prisoner in Sanandaj Central Prison. Ehsan Fattahian was executed on November 11, 2009, in a situation where he was not allowed to have a final meeting with his family, was on a hunger strike, and his body was buried without informing his family.
Ehsan Fattahian was arrested in Kamyaran on July 20, 2008. The Islamic Revolutionary Court initially sentenced him to 10 years in prison and exile to Ramhormoz for membership in one of the Kurdish parties and propaganda against the regime. But with the objection of the Kamyaran prosecutor, his sentence was changed to execution for enmity with God in the Sanandaj Court of Appeal. Despite the strong protest of lawyers and human rights organizations against this verdict, which even violates the laws of the Islamic Republic itself, and despite Ehsan Fattahian's hunger strike, which turned into a mass hunger strike of political prisoners in Sanandaj prison and several other cities in Kurdistan, as well as student protests; He was executed on November 11, 2009, in Sanandaj Central Prison.
Ehsan was born on March 3, 1983, and was from Kermanshah. He was 27 years old when he was executed.
The last words of Ehsan Fattahian in Sanandaj Central Prison;
"If the rulers and the powerful think that my death will eliminate the problems called the Kurdish issue; What a vain illusion. Neither my death nor the death of thousands like me will be a remedy for this incurable pain and will only make the fire more blazing. No doubt every death is a sign of another life."
