Yazd prison; The opposition of IRGC intelligence to the conditional release and sending of Khaled Zamani, a political prisoner, on leave

Khaled Zamani, a Kurdish political prisoner from Khoy who is serving his 30-year sentence in Yazd Prison, has been deprived of the right to conditional release and leave due to the opposition of the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence.

According to a source informed to Kurdpa, recently, the Yazd Central Prison Classification Council and the supervising judge of the prison have agreed to the request for conditional release of this political prisoner, but due to the opposition of the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence, he has been deprived of the right to conditional release.

The informed source added: The Yazd Prison Disciplinary Council has repeatedly approved Mr. Zamani's leave request in recent years, but the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence has opposed his request each time.

Khaled Zamani, son of Yusef, a Kurdish political prisoner from Khoy, was arrested by security forces on July 1, 2008, and was interrogated for five weeks and physically tortured by the security forces during his detention.

This political prisoner was then sentenced by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court of Khoy, headed by Judge "Nowrouzi", to "amputation of the left hand and right foot" on charges of "waging war" through membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government, which was overturned by the Supreme Court after Khaled Zamani's protest.

Mr. Zamani was later sentenced by the West Azerbaijan Province Court of Appeal to 30 years in prison and exile to Yazd Central Prison on charges of "assembly and collusion to commit a crime against internal security and propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic of Iran".

After the finalization of the verdict of this political prisoner, he was exiled from Khoy Prison to Yazd Prison on December 21, 2009.

Khaled Zamani is one of the co-defendants of Fasih Yasamani, a Kurdish political prisoner who was executed in Khoy Prison on January 8, 2010.
