Amjad Amini: Jina is not dead, her name has become a symbol of freedom and equality in the world
Today, October 19, 2023, following the selection of Jina-Mahsa Amini and the revolutionary movement of Ji, Jian, Azadi as the winners of the Sakharov Prize, Amjad Amini, Jina's father, published a message stating that his daughter's selection as the winner of this prize indicates the attention of the European Union and the international community to the oppression of Jina and many of her peers who lost their lives for the desire to live freely.
Amjad Amini also admitted in another part of his message; Today we are not only grieving as Jina's parents. Rather, we mourn the loss of any loved one in Iran and around the world who are sacrificed for freedom and our heartache is repeated every day.
Mr. Amini further recalls we believe that people's solidarity and political and social relations around the world should make the world a safer place for children and young people and human life. Those who have many desires to have a better life in a safe world.
Mr. Amini concludes by saying, that Jina is not dead. We live with her. We are happy that her name has become a symbol of freedom and equality in the world and we feel that she is happy and satisfied like us.
On October 19, 2023, Jina-Mahsa Amini and the revolutionary movement of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi were announced by the European Parliament as this year's winners of the Sakharov Human Rights Prize.
The award ceremony will be held on December 13 in Strasbourg, France.
