Time and Branch Determined for the Court Session Regarding Pourya Javaheri's Charges

21:59 - 3 October 2023

The court session to address the charges against Pourya Javaheri, a citizen accused of "moharebeh" (waging war against God), is scheduled to be held on October 7th by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj.

Mustafa Ahmadian, Pourya Javaheri's attorney, has stated: "The court session for my client, Pourya Javaheri, on charges of moharebeh, has been scheduled for the October 7th at 10 o'clock in Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj. I have raised objections to his detention based on the violations of Articles 378 and 388 of the Criminal Procedure Code, citing Article 297 as well."

in September of this year, Pourya Javaheri, a citizen accused of "moharebeh," was transferred from Kamyaran Prison to Sanandaj Prison, and in August of this year, Mustafa Ahmadian, Pourya Javaheri's attorney, informed about the referral of his client's case to Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, on charges of "moharebeh through deliberate murder of a military personnel, membership in anti-regime groups, propaganda activities against the regime, and deliberate assault on several military officers."

On November 29, 2022, Pourya Javaheri was detained without any judicial order by the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) Intelligence in Kamyaran. After more than two months of interrogation in the IRGC Intelligence detention center, he was transferred to Kamyaran Prison.

On March 13, 2023, under heavy security measures, Pourya Javaheri was forcibly taken to a 12-meter street in Kamyaran with handcuffs and leg cuffs. Security interrogators coerced him into participating in a scenario of "participating in protests and shooting at security forces" by threatening him.

In December 2022, the Chief Justice of Kurdistan Province had told the Tasnim News Agency about this citizen's case: "A detention order has been issued for Pourya Javaheri on charges of moharebeh, and his case has been established in Branch One of Kamyaran's investigative court. While he was present in the investigative court's branch, he confessed to shooting at the security personnel, stating that he received the weapon from another individual who has also been detained by judicial order."

Pourya Javaheri had informed his family of his detention in a security detention center in Sanandaj in December through a brief phone call, and at a time when he mentioned the torture and his chest bone broke during interrogation, the interrogators had disconnected his phone call.
