Saqqez; Osman Ismaeili, a Labor Activist, Sentenced to Imprisonment
Osman Ismaeili, a labor activist from Saqqez, has been sentenced to disciplinary imprisonment by branch 1 of the revolutionary court in this city on charges of "membership in Komala" and "propaganda against the regime."
According to the issued verdict, this labor activist has been sentenced to 31 months and 15 days of imprisonment for the charge of "membership in the Komala Organization of the Communist Party of Iran" and 7 months and 5 days of imprisonment for the charge of "propaganda against the regime through participating in the funeral ceremony of Zhina Amini."
The court, considering the reduction provisions stipulated in Article 38 of the Islamic Penal Code approved in 2013, including Mr. Ismaeili's age and marital status, pursuant to the recent amendment to Article 37 of the Islamic Penal Code and Article 6 of the Reduction of Disciplinary Imprisonment Act approved in 2020, has reduced the above strict imprisonment sentence to 16 months of disciplinary imprisonment, taking into account the days of previous detention.
The verdict against this labor activist was issued in person, and within a period of 20 days from the date of notification, he has the right to appeal to the Supreme Court.
On Sunday, June 18th, a court session was held to address the charges against Osman Ismaeili, presided over by Judge Javad Mostafaei, the head of the first branch of the revolutionary court in Saqqez, and with the presence of Keyvan Jahani, the consultant of the revolutionary court in Saqqez.
On Monday, April 17th, Osman Ismaeili was temporarily released from Saqqez Prison with a bail deposit of one billion Tomans until the end of the trial proceedings.
On Wednesday, March 15, 2023 , this labor activist was transferred from the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Sanandaj to Saqqez Prison.
On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Mr. Ismaeili was arrested without any judicial order by security forces on Shahada Street in Saqqez and was transferred from the detention center of the Intelligence Department of Saqqez to the detention center of the Intelligence Department in Sanandaj after a week.
