Sanandaj; Arrest of a Teacher Union Activist by Security Forces
On Tuesday, May 9th, Farzad Safikhanpour, a sociology teacher and an activist in the Sanandaj teachers' union, was arrested by security forces during a protest rally.
The activist informed his family in a phone call that his case will be referred to the court on Wednsday, May 10th.
On Tuesday, May 9th, the suppressive forces did not allow the teachers to hold a protest rally on Ekbatan Street in Sanandaj, and raided the protesting teachers on Taleghani Street, beating and mistreating them.
The protesting teachers chanted slogans such as "Women, Life, Freedom" and "Free the Imprisoned Teacher" during the rally.
Following the call by the Coordinating Council of Iranian Cultural Associations, the teachers protested in front of the education offices on Tuesday, May 9th, to demand their rights.
