Piranshahr: Seven citizens sentenced to imprisonment, fines, and lashings for their protest
Seven citizens from Piranshahr named Taha Rasoulian, 46, son of Rahmān; Sina Dashmir, 20, son of Kamāl; Ahmad Abdollahpour, 39, son of Omar; Mohsen (Mostafa) Ghaderi, 30, son of Taher; Chia Shahidaghdam, 19, son of Kheder; Abdullah Ghanbarivand, 48, son of Hassan; and Mahmoud Ghanbarivand, 47, son of Hassan were sentenced by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of Piranshahr, headed by Judge Reza Ghahremani Sa'atloo, to imprisonment, fines, and lashings.
According to the issued verdict, Taha Rasoulian was sentenced to pay a fine of fifty million Rials in cash to the treasury of the Islamic Republic of Iran government for the charge of "disrupting public order and tranquility," replacing three months of imprisonment and enduring 40 lashes in a concealed location away from public view, excluding the face and genitals. The same punishment was imposed on Sina Dashmir, Ahmad Abdollahpour, and Mohsen Ghaderi for the charge of "disrupting public order and tranquility." Chia Shahidaghdam was sentenced to pay a fine of fifty million Rials in cash to the treasury of the Islamic Republic of Iran government for the charge of "unauthorized crossing of the country's borders." Abdullah Ghanbarivand was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and a fine of two million Rials in cash to the treasury of the Islamic Republic of Iran government for the charge of "participation in making 20 handmade Molotov cocktail explosive devices." Mahmoud Ghanbarivand was sentenced to 15 months and one day of imprisonment for the charge of "involvement in making one spring-loaded knife handle" and enduring seven years, six months, and one day of imprisonment for the charges of "involvement in making two handmade military-grade firearm handles," "possession of three live bullets," and "participation in making 20 handmade Molotov cocktail explosive devices."
Considering the severity of punishment, the court reduced Mahmoud Ghanbarivand's sentence from seven years, six months, and one day of imprisonment to four years. In regard to the execution of the four-year imprisonment, two-thirds of it were suspended for one year.
This verdict was announced to these individuals on Sunday, May 14th.
On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Taha Rasoulian, a civil activist from Piranshahr, was temporarily released from Naghadeh Prison by depositing a bail of 5 billion tomans until the end of the trial process.
Mr. Rasoulian had been transferred from a secure detention center to Naghadeh Prison after the completion of the interrogation stages.
On the morning of Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Taha Rasoulian was arrested without a judicial order by security forces.
On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Sina Dashmir and Mohsen Ghaderi, both from the village of "Gazgask" in the outskirts of Piranshahr, were temporarily released from Naghadeh Prison by depositing a bail of 4 billion tomans each until the end of the trial process.
On the morning of Wednesday, January 18, 2023, these two Kurdish citizens were detained without a judicial order by security forces and transferred to one of the security detention centers in Urmia for interrogation.

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Ahmad Abdullahpour from Piranshahr was temporarily released from Naghadeh Prison with a deposit of three billion Tomans as bail until the end of the legal proceedings.
On the morning of Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Mr. Abdullahpour has arrested without a judicial order by security forces and transferred to one of the security detention centers in Urmia for interrogation.
After completing the interrogation process, this citizen was transferred to the Naghadeh Prison.
Chia Shahidaqdam, Abdullah Ghanbarivand, and Mahmoud Ghanbarivand, who are residents of Piranshahr, were also detained by security forces during the revolutionary uprising for women's rights, life, freedom.
