Omid Shahmohammadi, a teacher activist, has been transferred to Bijar prison to serve his sentence
On Saturday, April 8th, Omid Shahmohammadi, a member of the Teachers' Association in Kurdistan-Divandarreh and a biology teacher, was transferred to Bijar prison to serve his sentence.
This teacher activist was sentenced to five years in prison by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court in 2022 on charges of "acting against national security by being a member of one of the Kurdish opposition parties in Iran." Later, this sentence was reduced to one year of imprisonment and four years of suspended sentence by the Appeals Court.
On Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, after 76 days of temporary detention, this member of the Teachers' Association in Kurdistan-Divandarreh was released on bail of one and a half billion tomans from the detention center of the Sanandaj Intelligence Agency.
During his detention, this teacher activist was deprived of access to a lawyer and family visits.
On Thursday, June 15th, 2022, security forces arrested this teacher activist to prevent a protest rally of teachers in front of the Education Office in Divandarreh.
He was then transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Agency detention center for interrogation.
Omid Shahmohammadi was also arrested by security forces on November 12th, 2018, and was released on bail after 40 days of temporary detention.
Later, he was sentenced to one year of imprisonment on charges of "acting against national security" by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court.
