nationwide protests; Hosna Watanpour's sentence ranges from one year and six months of imprisonment to additional punishments
Hosna (Kajal) Watanpour, a legal consultant and women's rights activist, has been sentenced by the third branch of the Ilam Revolutionary Court to one year of imprisonment, six months of suspended imprisonment, passport cancellation and 1,100 hours of free legal advice.
The court has accused Mrs. Watanpour, who works in the field of injured women and provides free consultations, to "propaganda against the system", "association and collusion against internal and external security" and "disruption of public order".
This citizen has also been acquitted in court of the charges of "membership in Kurdish parties, leading protests and insulting the leader of the Iranian government".
The verdict of the first court of this women's rights activist was confirmed objectively in the appeals court, and she was denied access to a designated lawyer during the proceedings.
Hosna (Kajal) Watanpour was arrested on Wednesday, September 21st during the protests in Ilam along with beatings by IRGC intelligence and taken to the detention center of this organization.
During her arrest, she was beaten with a baton and the butt of a weapon on his shoulder, hand, and numerous blows on his side and ovaries.
The Kurdish citizen's mobile phone, identification cards and bank account were confiscated by the repressive security forces during his arrest.
This legal consultant was transferred to the Neswan Ward of Ilam Central Prison after completing the interrogation and severe torture to obtain forced confessions in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center and was released on November 15th after posting bail.
Hosna (Kajal) Watanpour is 29 years old and is from Gilangharb city, Kermanshah province.
