Amirali Mirjafari protester of 2026 executed secretly 8 protesters of December January executed in 34 days

21:38 - 22 April 2026

Amirali Mirjafari, one of the protesters arrested during the protests of December 2025/January 2026, was secretly executed on the morning of Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in an unknown location. The media of the Islamic Republic of Iran published this news but made no reference to the location of the execution. Furthermore, it is unclear whether he had access to a lawyer during the judicial proceedings, how and under what conditions the process of handling his case was completed within only about three months, and whether his body has been subjected to "enforced disappearance" or not.

Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the Judiciary, announced that Amirali Mirjafari was executed on charges including "setting fire to the Qolhak Grand Mosque" and "leading a Mossad network." The report stated that the death sentence was issued based on "written confessions" and his statements in court, and also claimed that he performed actions such as setting fire to trash cans, motorcycles, telephone booths, and bus windows, and had confessed in writing to possessing "cold weapons and gasoline."

Following the execution, Mizan News Agency published a video report showing his presence and statements in court. In this report, while raising charges such as "espionage" and playing a role in the protests, it concluded with threats from security and judicial institutions against protesters, accusing them of affiliation with the "enemy." However, neither in the news of the execution nor in this video report was any mention made of the location of the execution. Additionally, despite the reference to the completion of the legal process and the upholding of the sentence by the Supreme Court, there is no sign of his access to a lawyer, enjoyment of a fair trial, or information regarding the right to a final meeting with the family. It is not even clear if he had a lawyer at all; this is while many arrested protesters have been deprived of the right to access a lawyer, even in the final stages of interrogation and trial. The status of his body remains unknown, and the question is raised as to whether it has been subjected to enforced disappearance or not.

With the execution of Amirali Mirjafari, the number of protesters executed in connection with the nationwide protests of December 2025/January 2026 has reached eight individuals within 34 days. Prior to him, Saleh Mohammadi, Saeid Davoodi, and Mehdi Ghasemi were executed on March 19, 2026, in the Central Prison of the city of Qom; Amirhossein Hatami on April 2, 2026, in Qezel Hesar Prison; Mohammad Amin Biglari and Shahin Vahedparast on April 5, and Ali Fahim on April 6, 2026, in the same prison.
