October 7, 2026 — Sardar Seyyed Abdollahi, a 19-year-old Kurdish youth from Gazgasak village in Piranshahr, is currently serving an 18-month discretionary prison sentence (Habs-e Ta'ziri) in Urmia Central Prison. Published for the first time, this report documents his arrest and subsequent sentencing, of which he has already served nine months. Abdollahi spent 45 days in solitary confinement across security detention facilities in Piranshahr and Urmia before being sentenced by the Urmia Revolutionary Court, without ever having been granted temporary release on bail or access to legal representation.

An informed source told Kurdpa: "Sardar Seyyed Abdollahi was arbitrarily arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Piranshahr on March 31, 2025. Following initial interrogations, he was transferred to the Intelligence Office in Urmia, and after spending 45 days in security detention, he was moved to the political ward of Urmia Central Prison."

According to the source, after spending six months in arbitrary detention across security holding centers and Urmia Prison, Abdollahi was sentenced by the Urmia Revolutionary Court to 18 months of discretionary imprisonment on charges of "membership in or cooperation with a Kurdish opposition party," with time served included.

The source added that his arrest and subsequent conviction occurred despite the lack of evidence against him at the Piranshahr Intelligence Office, with the judgment based solely on a complaint filed against him.

To date, Sardar Seyyed Abdollahi has served nine months of his sentence without the right to temporary bail in security detention centers and Urmia Prison. In recent weeks, he was granted prison leave for the first time; upon completion of his leave, he reported back to Urmia Central Prison to serve the remainder of his term.

The source noted that throughout his detention in security holding facilities, Abdollahi was deprived of telephone calls and family visits, as well as access to legal representation during both the interrogation process and judicial proceedings.

Sardar Seyyed Abdollahi, son of Salman and a 19-year-old resident of Gazgasak village in Piranshahr, was completing his mandatory military service at the time of his arrest.
