October 7, 2026 — Kayhan Mohammadi, a Kurdish photographer from Kamyaran, was awarded first place in the themed section "Breath" at the 17th FOKUS Award 2026 International Photography Festival in Albania, out of 560 participants from 52 countries.

Organized in collaboration with prestigious art galleries including the Vilson Kilica Gallery in Fier, the international jury selected Mohammadi's piece, Synthetic Respiration, for top honors in the 2026 Main Selection. The photograph offers a critical commentary on industrial pollution, excessive consumerism, and the loss of the fundamental human right to clean air.

Mohammadi holds a degree in visual arts and works as an art teacher in Kurdistan. His works have previously been showcased in international exhibitions, including the Blue Rhino Art Gallery in London
