September 5, 2026; In recent days, Sa'doon Ghazali, a Kurdish citizen from Mahabad, was transferred to the prison in this municipality to execute his prison sentence.

According to an informed source, this citizen was arrested after being summoned to the Sentence Execution Unit of the General and Revolutionary Public Prosecutor's Office of Mahabad and subsequently transferred to the municipality's prison to serve his sentence.

Recently, Mr. Ghazali was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad, presided over by Judge Siyami, to one year of mandatory imprisonment and one year of suspended imprisonment on the charge of "assembly and collusion against national security."

Sa'doon Ghazali was arrested by security forces at his family home without a judicial warrant on Sunday, June 22, 2025, and transferred to a security detention center in Urmia for interrogation. On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, he was temporarily released from Mahabad Prison after posting a bail of 3 billion Tomans.
