August 16, 2026; "Yadollah Mota'i", a Kurdish citizen from Dehgolan and a karate coach with 31 years of athletic activity who was previously arrested and sentenced to prison during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi revolutionary uprising, was banned by the security department (Herasat) of the General Directorate of Sports and Youth of Kurdistan Province from continuing athletic activities, coaching, and establishing any sports club.

According to an informed source speaking to Kurdpa; on Saturday, August 15, 2026, this decision was verbally communicated to the 45-year-old coach after "Yadollah Mota'i" was summoned to the security department of the General Directorate of Sports and Youth of Kurdistan Province. Furthermore, all of his documents and contracts at the Kurdistan Province club were torn up at the security department, and he was told: "You have been dismissed from coaching forever."

Concurrently, on the same day, August 15, 2026, "Yadollah Mota'i" was barred from attending the honoring ceremony for sports champions, coaches, and veterans of Dehgolan county, and his name was removed from the event.

"Yadollah Mota'i" has been active as an athlete and karate coach since 1995 and has 31 years of experience in this discipline. During the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi revolutionary uprising, he was arrested on September 19, 2022, in connection with strikes and protest gatherings following the state murder of Jhina-Mahsa Amini, released temporarily on bail after several weeks, and ultimately sentenced to five years of suspended imprisonment. Additionally, he was summoned to security agencies in May 2024.

Earlier, the state news agency IRNA had announced that "Farzad Khaki", one of the sports officials in Kurdistan province, was appointed as the supervisor of the General Directorate of Sports and Youth of Kurdistan on July 14, 2025. He previously served as the deputy of championship sports at the General Directorate of Sports and Youth of Kurdistan and head of the Sports and Youth Department of Saqqez county.
