Kamyaran; Issa Feyzi, Former Political Prisoner, Arrested After Visiting the Intelligence Department

00:16 - 7 June 2026

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Issa Feyzi, a former political prisoner, was arrested and transferred to an unknown location after visiting the News Headquarters (Setad-e Khabari) of the Kamyaran Intelligence Department to seek information regarding the fate of his detained family members.

On the morning of Saturday, June 6, 2026, Kazhal Rahmani and Danial Rahmani, the wife and brother-in-law of Issa Feyzi, were arbitrarily detained by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and were transferred to an unknown location.

This former political prisoner was previously arrested on January 5, 2019 (January 15, 1397), during a widespread crackdown on civil activists in Kamyaran. After more than five months of detention, he was temporarily released from Kamyaran Prison on bail. He was later sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj to a six-year suspended imprisonment sentence on the charge of "acting against national security."

Jamal Rahmani, a member of the Leadership Council of the Democratic and Free Society of East Kurdistan (KODAR) and the brother of Kazhal and Danial Rahmani, was killed by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in 2018 (1397). The family has repeatedly approached security institutions in the cities of Kamyaran and Sanandaj to retrieve his body or to find out his burial location, but no response has been given to them so far. Additionally, their other brother, Rebin Rahmani, is a former political prisoner and a member of the board of directors of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network.

Over the past years, Kazhal Rahmani has been summoned and interrogated multiple times by the Ministry of Intelligence in Kamyaran and Sanandaj. She was employed as a nurse at Sina Hospital in Kamyaran and was dismissed from her workplace in the autumn of 2019 (1398) following pressure from the Ministry of Intelligence.

Danial Rahmani, a computer engineering student at the Islamic Azad University of Sanandaj, has also been summoned and interrogated several times in recent years by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Kamyaran.

Up to the moment of the publication of this news, there is no information available regarding the reason for the detention and the charges brought against these three Kurdish citizens.
