Mahabad; 9 Days of Arbitrary Detention and Complete Lack of Information on the Fate of Saman Zandepil
June 25, 2026; Nine days after the arbitrary detention of “Saman Zandepil,” a Kurdish citizen from Mahabad who holds academic degrees, there is still no information regarding his fate and whereabouts. Since his arrest, he has been deprived of the right to contact or visit his family, as well as access to a lawyer.
An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: “Saman Zandepil,” a 40-year-old Kurdish citizen from Mahabad, was arrested on June 18, 2026, by Intelligence Department security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. According to this source, despite the passage of 9 days since his arrest, this citizen's fate remains in absolute uncertainty, and he continues to be denied access to a lawyer, phone calls, and family visitation.
Saman Zandepil, son of Hossein, is 40 years old, single, and holds university degrees in Philosophy and Sociology.
Up to the time of publishing this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for this Kurdish citizen's arrest, and security forces have provided no explanation in this regard.
