Concurrently, the detention orders for these five citizens have been extended for another month. An informed source confirmed this news to Kurdpa, stating that the families of these five Kurdish citizens were informed today, Sunday, November 8, 2026, that the detention of their loved ones will continue and that their detention orders have been extended for another month, despite their ongoing deprivation of access to legal counsel, family visits, and phone contact.
On the morning of Thursday, October 8, 2026, amid a wave of arbitrary arrests in the city of Saqqez, more than 30 armed security personnel from the Saqqez Intelligence Department raided the homes of 7 Kurdish citizens and members of the "Halo" and "Chiya-y Sawz-i Saqqez" mountaineering groups—named "Mohammad Hakimpour," "Mostafa Qaderi," "Mohammad-Saleh Hosseini," "Hossein Abdollahi," "Khaled Rahimi," "Abdollah Amini," and "Rahim Haqparast"—between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, violently arresting them amid beatings by dozens of armed security forces and transferring them to an undisclosed location. "Rahim Haqparast" was released after one day, and "Abdollah Amini" was released after 24 hours, while the other 5 citizens were transferred to an undisclosed location in absolute secrecy.
All detained individuals were subjected to severe disrespect and beatings in the detention facility of the Saqqez Intelligence Department during the initial hours of their arrest.
As of the publication of this report, the reasons for the arrest of these Kurdish citizens remain unknown, and security forces have provided no explanation in this regard. Furthermore, they remain deprived of the right to access legal counsel, family visits, and phone contact with their families.
"Chiya-y Sawz" (Green Mountain) and "Halo" (Eagle) Mountaineering Groups:
The "Chiya-y Sawz" (Green Mountain) and "Halo" (Eagle) mountaineering groups are two independent civil, sports, and environmental organizations in Saqqez. In addition to periodic ascents of mountains and heights across Kurdistan, these groups play an active role in programs such as nature cleanups, tree planting, promoting mountaineering, and honoring veterans; including their joint ascent on October 2, 2026, to the summit of Mount "Talesavar" in the Khorkhoreh region, which featured a speech by veteran mountaineer "Pirah Halo."
Nevertheless, due to their independence and civil activities, members of these organizations have repeatedly faced security pressure. Notably, members of the "Halo" group, such as Asa'd Sidiqi (July 2020) and Siddiq Youssefpour (December 2025/January 2026), have a record of arbitrary arrest and home searches by security agencies.
