October 6, 2026 — On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Yadollah Mota'i, a Kurdish resident of Dehgolan and a karate coach with 31 years of athletic experience, was arbitrarily arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an undisclosed location.

An informed source told Kurdpa that security agents intercepted and detained Mota'i on a public street in Dehgolan without presenting a warrant.

As of the publication of this report, the official grounds for his arrest remain unknown, and security authorities have offered no explanation regarding his case. Furthermore, Mota'i has been systematically deprived of access to legal counsel, family visits, and telephone calls since his detention.

In a related context, Mota'i—who was previously arrested and given a suspended sentence during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement—was banned from continuing his sports activities, coaching, or opening any athletic club by the Security Office (Herasat) of the Kurdistan Province Department of Sport and Youth.

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, this directive was verbally communicated to the 45-year-old coach after he was summoned to the Security Office of the Kurdistan Department of Sport and Youth. Security officers tore up all his documents and contracts at the province's athletic club, telling him: "You are permanently barred from coaching." Simultaneously on that same day, Mota'i was barred from attending an honoring ceremony for sports champions, coaches, and veterans in Dehgolan, and his name was removed from the event.

Yadollah Mota'i has been active as an athlete and karate coach since 1995, accumulating 31 years of experience in the discipline. During the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement on September 19, 2022, he was arrested in connection with general strikes and protests following the state-sanctioned killing of Jina-Mahsa Amini. He was temporarily released on bail after several weeks and ultimately sentenced to five years of suspended imprisonment. Additionally, he was summoned for questioning by security agencies in May 2024.
